Guglielmo Petroni, writer, poet and painter from Lucca, returns home. He does so with the exhibition Guglielmo Petroni. Il segno e la parola, curated by Alessandra Trabucchi and Giovanni Ricci, from 25 January to 16 March 2025 at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Lucca.

The exhibition recounts and documents the network of relations of Petroni, a collaborator of the main cultural magazines of the second half of the Italian 20th century, with the Italian artistic and intellectual world, delving into the lesser-known aspects of his activity as a painter and art critic. 

The sections, displaying magazines and art works, are dedicated to Petroni's biography, his years in Lucca, his literary commitment, his passion for art, his experience in the Resistance, and his artist and writer friends.

Also on display are some of his paintings from his youth and later years, with works from the Petroni heirs' collection. Artists friends of the writer include Eugenio Montale, Mino Maccari, Renato Guttuso, Giacomo Manzu, Alberto Savinio, Ottone Rosai and Emilio Greco.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Inauguration on Saturday 25 January at 5 p.m.
