Ultime ore di Maggiano (Last Hours in Maggiano) is Giancarlo Vaccarezza's solo exhibition, on display for the first time in the former Maggiano Psychiatric Hospital, where the artist taught patients to paint in the "Occasioni" painting workshop from 1987 to 1999, later joined by sculptor Edoardo Nardini.

During those years, the patients painted on pieces of plywood salvaged from the asylum's carpentry workshop, and even the easels and palettes were handmade. Nevertheless, it was an opportunity for everyone to reclaim their skills, abilities, desires and the will to leave the asylum. Through his paintings inspired by the patients, Vaccarezza bears witness to the last years of the psychiatric hospital's existence.

The exhibition can be visited in the Palazzina Medici until 24 October 2025 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
