A journey through more than 100 works that recounts the evolution of Giovanni Boldini's painting through female beauty, the subject of continuous aesthetic research and profound psychological investigation, on which the artist coined an idealised model of grace.
The undisputed master of elegance and portraiture between the 19th and 20th centuries, Boldini placed the female image at the centre of his artistic universe. Through vibrant brushstrokes and a refined play of light and movement, he was able to capture not only the external grace of his models, fashion, high society and the spirit of the times, but also the psychological depth of these women, giving life to an ideal of timeless femininity and charm. Boldini captured their vital spirit, the grace of their gestures and the intensity of their gazes, transforming them into icons of sensuality and modernity.
The exhibition, curated by Tiziano Panconi, is open from 2 December 2025 to 2 June 2026 at the Cavallerizza in Piazzale Verdi in Lucca.
