Piazza del Duomo Pietrasanta e Mura Urbane Lucca
The first marathon on Sigerico ancient itenary to be run exclusively on foot, walking surrounded by nature, along ancient paths, dirt roads and asphalt tracks through ancient villages and Romanesque parishes.
Appointment on Sunday, September 27th, with departure from Piazza del Duomo in Pietrasanta at 7:00 a.m. and from San Macario in Piazza della Chiesa at 12:00 p.m. with arrivals in Camaiore, Valpromaro and Lucca behind the Cathedral of San Martino.
Via Francigena joins Pietrasanta to Lucca passing through some characteristic inland villages of Versilia and Lucchesia, along North Via Francigena. The route follows 80 percent of the original route of the Francigena.
Three routes with increasing difficulty are planned:
Family Marathon: Pietrasanta-Camaiore 12,500 km, total positive height gain +350 m, easy technical difficulty, also suitable for families with children (In Camaiore at 10 a.m. shuttle bus to return to Pietrasanta included in the registration).
Half Marathon: Pietrasanta-Valpromaro 23.900 km, total positive height gain +750 m, medium technical difficulty. (At Valpromaro from 13.15 hrs. shuttle bus to return to Pietrasanta included in the registration).
Marathon: Pietrasanta-Lucca 40.500 km, total elevation gain +750 m, average technical difficulty, suitable for people trained to sustain these lengths, (from 2 p.m. in Lucca shuttle bus for the return to Pietrasanta included in the registration).
