Da Picasso a Warhol - Le vinyl cover dei grandi maestri (From Picasso to Warhol - The Vinyl Covers of the Great Masters), a major exhibition at Palazzo Guinigi dedicated to artists' covers with a selection of over 150 vinyl covers that have become true works of art over the years.

The exhibition, curated by Vincenzo and Giorgia Sanfo, traverses the history of modern and contemporary art through the record covers created by artists such as Picasso, Mirò, Warhol, Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Keith Haring, Matisse and many others. Also present are important Italian names such as Mimmo Paladino, Marco Lodola, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Francesco Clemente, Marco Nereo Rotelli, Ferruccio D'Angelo and Gilberto Zorio. The exhibition also documents the contribution of internationally renowned photographers such as Araki, Mapplethorpe and Luigi Ghirri, and illustrators such as Guido Crepax and Milo Manara. Particular attention is paid to the contribution of Andy Warhol, whose numerous works are exhibited, from his first experiments in the 1940s to the last cover he produced for MTV, shortly before his death.

The exhibition starts with an absolute rarity: the first vinyl cover, created in 1939 by the New York graphic artist Alex Steinweiss, and develops over a period of time up to the present day. Among the authors represented are Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Jenny Saville, Victor Vasarely, Ai Weiwei, Gilbert & George, Julian Schnabel and Robert Rauschenberg, the latter being present with the famous modular cover of the Talking Heads' Speaking in Tongues album.

The exhibition highlights collaborations between visual artists and musicians, such as those between Lady Gaga and Jeff Koons, the Rolling Stones and Andy Warhol, Bruce Springsteen and Annie Leibovitz.

The exhibition can be visited daily from 3 July to 28 September 2025, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online on the Torre Guinigi website or directly at the ticket office. A cumulative ticket is also available at a cost of € 15.00 valid for the exhibition and the visit to the Torre Guinigi.

Guided tours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - in Italian at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in English at 4.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. Cost included in the exhibition entrance fee, reservation not required.
