Il Fuoco e la Memoria. Storia di Vania (Fire and Memory. The Story of Vania), a collaborative project created to give visual and symbolic form to an urgent and profound issue: gender-based violence and collective responsibility in building a culture of respect.

It all began with the “Vania mural”, painted last May on a wall of the Cittadella della Salute, for which 15 sketches were drawn by students from the Liceo Artistico “Passaglia” art school, led by teacher Giuliano Toma. These sketches are now the focus of an exhibition hosted in the Antica Armeria room of the Palazzo Ducale from 22 November to 12 December 2025.

The exhibition catalogue, edited by Sonia Biagi and Giuliano Toma, stems from the desire to give voice, through art, to the memory of the femicide of Vania Vannucchi. Through the expressive power of images, individual memory is transformed into a collective narrative, generating awareness and dialogue. The exhibition and catalogue are intended to become living tools for civic and cultural education, capable of fuelling a shared commitment against gender-based violence and promoting a culture based on respect and dignity for every human being.

The event is part of the initiatives for 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Those who wish to collect the catalogue may leave a donation, which will subsequently be delivered to the LUNA association.

The exhibition is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Opening on Saturday 22 November at 11:00.
