Freedom, improvisation, and contamination are the keys to Lucca Jazz Donna, which for 22 years has brought the best musicians on the international scene to the Tuscan city.

The festival represents an important opportunity to discover new talents and to listen again to already established artists. The presence of female musicians from different generations and different ‘artistic backgrounds’ underlines the liveliness and evolution of female jazz and makes Lucca Jazz Donna a truly unmissable event for enthusiasts and the curious alike.

From 6 to 27 August at 9.15 pm at the Real Collegio, with a grand finale in September at the auditorium Church of San Francesco featuring Maria Laura Baccarini.

Guests include Michela Lombardi, Mya Fracassini, Nico Gori, Eugenia Canale, Piero Frassi and Emiliano Begni. A programme ranging from pure vocal exploration to Sephardic music, encompassing folk traditions and contemporary composers. 

Thursday 20 August

9.15 pm – Real Collegio, Cloister of Santa Caterina | Quarta fase/La reina

Fourth act: Francesca Galdi on saxophone and Roberta Brighi on electric bass present a project dedicated to the Moon and femininity. They are joined by Franco Mariani on drums and Fabio Castronuovo on piano.

La Reina Medieval and Renaissance Sephardic music takes centre stage, blended with elements of modern jazz. Taking to the stage are Nawawi Sepharad, a group comprising Tiziana Nauaui (vocals, composition and arrangements), Manuela Pasqui (piano), Gigi Lamberti (double bass) and Marco Landriani (drums).
