Female hairdressing over time through the casts of the Antica Zecca di Lucca Foundation in the Museum premises, on the upper floor of the San Donato Casermetta on the city walls.
An exhibition, curated by Franca Maria Vanni, which enhances female beauty through a chronological review of the most beautiful female hairstyles over the centuries. A journey through the history of hairdressing from antiquity to the end of the nineteenth century, through the study of the imprints and matrices of the collection of the Mint of Lucca.
A great variety of styles expressed through hairstyles, curls, braids, ornaments on the hair and wigs which, starting from the seventeenth century, are an essential complement to clothing, including men, according to the fashion introduced to the French Court by Louis XIV.
Each showcase is dedicated to a different historical period and the exhibition is flanked by period drawings and beautiful wigs styled according to the fashion of the time.
The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on Saturday and Sunday by appointment.

followed by a guided tour of the exhibition.
