A concert, a round table, two exhibitions: all this is Chet, we remember you, an entire day of music, words and images that the Teatro del Giglio and the City of Lucca, in collaboration with the Circolo Jazz Lucca, are dedicating to the legendary Chet Baker, one of the greatest trumpet players and jazz singers of the last century.

The date chosen, 13 May 2024, is highly evocative: in fact, the anniversary of Chet Baker's birth and the day of his death, who died on 13 May 1988 in Amsterdam, are intertwined here.

3.30 p.m. - round table moderated by Giorgio Angelo Lazzarini, sole director of the Teatro del Giglio. Speakers, together with musicians Giovanni Tommaso, Enrico Rava, Rita Marcotulli and Roberto Gatto, will include Domenico Manzione, Public Prosecutor, author of the book ‘Il mio amico Chet. Storia un po' vera e un po' no del processo a Chet Baker’ (Pacini Fazzi Editore); Francesco Martinelli, historian and jazz scholar, editor of the book “Chet Baker - vita e musica” (EDT/Siena Jazz); Carlo Andrea Giorgetti, active member of the Circolo del Jazz at the end of the Seventies, founder of the Banchetto Musicale, musician and scholar of music of the second half of the eighteenth century; Vittorio Barsotti, president of the Circolo Lucca Jazz.

In the foyer of the Teatro del Giglio there will be two exhibitions with precious material on Chet Baker in Lucca from the Circolo Lucca Jazz archive and with a selection of plates taken from the comic strip by Massimo Scapecchi dedicated to the years Chet Baker spent in Lucca.
