Events

A selection of films directly from the most important international festivals, screenings among national and international premieres, short films, exhibitions, thematic conferences, meetings, master classes, musical events and international guests enliven the days of the Lucca Film Festival, scheduled from 21 to 29 September.

Lucca Effetto Cinema is the event that on 28 septemberanimates the historic center with micro-performances co-produced by the festival together with amateur acting associations and local and national dance companies.

International Feature Film Competition 2024 : 12 selected films will continue the tradition of presenting the best international, independent and auteur cinema.

International Short Film Competition 2024: 12 short films selected from all over the world to discover new and different cinema.

Special guests

Paul Schrader, American director and screenwriter, Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2022, among his most famous films American Gigolo, Panther's Kiss and Master Gardener.

Ethan Hawke, one of America's cult actors, starring in films such as Dead Poet's Society, the Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight trilogies, Gattaca, Training Day and Boyhood.

Ruben Ostlund, Swedish actor starring in The Square and Triangle of Sadness.

Matthew Modine, an actor of great experience and versatility, from Full Metal Jacket to The Shawshank Redemption to Dr. Martin Brenner of Stranger Things, which consolidated his fame.

Chiara Mastroianni, daughter of film stars Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, has acted in numerous films and has also tried her hand at directing and dubbing.

Pupi Avati, film director and producer, one of the most important filmmakers in Italian cinema, from Regalo di Natale to La casa dalla finestre che ridono to the recent Dante and la quattordicesima domenica del tempo ordinario.

Carolina Crescentini, versatile actress, many roles from cinema to television dramas (from I bastardi di Pizzofalcone to Mare Fuori).

Tonino De Bernardi, underground director presents the film Antonio/Paolo/Atti Profani/Cherì at the LFF.

From 21 September to 27 October at Palazzo Pfanner the exhibition "Marcello, Successful Antidivao".
