Events

An exciting fusion of voices and music from different cultures for the 3rd edition of the VOX LUCENSIS International Choral Competition. An important appointment for international choral music is renewed under the artistic direction of Maestros Giovanni Acciai and Sara Matteucci.

Choirs from fourteen countries (Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Faroe Islands, Italy, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary) with a total of around 800 participants are taking part in the event.

The competition is divided into several a cappella and accompanied categories, including sacred music, youth choirs and chamber choirs, and will take place in the San Pietro Somaldi Church and the Auditorium del Suffragio.

The performances will be assessed by an international commission consisting of maestros Külli Kiivet (Estonia), Christian Klucker (Switzerland) and Sara Matteucci (Italy).

Saturday 23 March

6 p.m. - Basilica di San Paolino Opening concert with the participation of the Youth Choir of the Conservatorio "Boccherini", and with the performance in unison choirs of the piece "Vox Lucensis" by Saverio Rapezzi conducted by Sara Matteucci.

Sunday 24th March 

6 p.m. - Luigi Boccherini Conservatory - performance of the choirs.
9 p.m. - Church of San Pietro Somaldi.

Monday 25 March

6:00 p.m. - Luigi Boccherini Conservatory - performance by the choirs.
9 p.m. - Luigi Boccherini Conservatory - performance of the choirs. Among the participants is the Lucca ensemble Gruppo Vocale 'Stereo Tipi'.

Tuesday 26 March 

5 p.m. - Church of San Francesco - final competition of the Grand Prix.
The event is sponsored by the City of Lucca, the Association of Tuscan Choirs (ACT), the Province of Lucca and the 'L. Boccherini' State Conservatory of Music.
